Ayrshire NHS workers are self-isolating at home due to coronavirus.As of 8am on Friday, January 22, the health board revealed that 178 healthcare workers had tested positive for COVID-19 with a further 133 self-isolating having been contacted through Test and Protect.It means the number of staff unable to work across the region due to Covid has doubled in the past two weeks.Last week it was confirmed that 144 staff were in quarantine – but the latest figures show that number has soared to 311.Dr Crawford McGuffie, medical director for NHS Ayrshire & Arran, said: "NHS Ayrshire & Arran has prepared extensively to deal with COVID-19 and continues to work to ensure we have the right resources, equipment and staffing in place."As of Friday.
