Rafael Nadal will not be adding a 14th French Open title to his collection after going down 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2 to Novak Djokovic in an epic semi-final at Roland Garros.
Nadal won the opening set of the contest but could not find an answer to Djokovic for the remainder of the match as the Serbian won three sets without reply.Defeat is the Spaniard's first on Paris clay since 2015 when Djokovic again proved too good for Nadal, winning their quarter-final tie in straight sets before advancing to the final.This match was even more epic than that, with local authorities allowing fans inside the arena to watch as play continued beyond France's 11pm Covid-19 curfew.
