Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones's portrayal of main characters make the show what it is, however there's been a third - somewhat unexpected - star of the 12-part series.

Connell's silver chain, which he wears for the duration of the programme from his school days until he finishes university, has attracted a lot of fans and it even has its own Instagram account.

In the book, the chain is described as being "Argos chic", however people don't seem to be put off by that phrase at all and are instead lusting over the item.
