Scottish Government said it was positive news as the country moves towards August 9 and leaving the Levels system. At the start of July Scotland had five out of the top 10 in terms of number of covid cases in the UK, however there are now no local authorities in the top 150.
The number of people being hospitalised has also fallen in the last week which is down to the level of people being vaccinated against the virus.
Speaking on the BBC's Today programme, Prof Leitch said: "We had five out of the top 10 local authorities in the UK, now we have none in the top 150. "We've now seen hospitalisations fall.
