No public apology but Man City ready to 'root out vile behaviour' after Liverpool chants

Manchester City have vowed to 'root out' the 'vile behaviour' that was seen and heard during their clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.City fans were heard chanting in reference to both the Hillsborough and Heysel stadium disasters while at Anfield.

Liverpool were quick to release a public statement to condemn the chants, while City have internally vowed to root out the behaviour.According to the Liverpool Echo, City are committed to rooting out the "vile behaviour" of those using the deaths of football fans to point-score on the terraces.

The concourse in the away section was also vandalised with graffiti of a similar nature."We know the impact such behaviour has on the families, survivors and all those associated with such disasters."We are working with the relevant authorities and we will also work with Manchester City in order to do our utmost to ensure these chants are eradicated from football altogether."City were upset by Jurgen Klopp’s observation that “there are three clubs in football who can do what they want financially” - and they pointed towards it creating a toxic atmosphere.Pep Guardiola was also the target of coins when Phil Foden appeared to have handed City the lead, before his goal was disallowed by VAR.
