Downing Street has slammed as "baseless" discredited claim made in the German media about the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. The widely discredited report claimed that the Oxford vaccine did not work in over-65s.
A German publication - Handelsblatt - cited German government sources claiming unpublished data suggested it was is only 8% effective.
That triggered immediate denials from Oxford University and manufacturer AstraZeneca, and MPs claimed the report could cause people to turn down offers to have the jab.
But today No 10 went on the offensive to tackle the report. Boris Johnson's official spokesman told reporters that Sir Patrick Vallance had updated Cabinet on the misinformation this morning.
