Nine NHS Tayside volunteers presented with national award for commitment

Nine NHS Tayside volunteers have been presented with a national award which celebrates the commitment and contribution of young people in volunteering.Volunteers aged between 16 and 25 can sign up to the Saltire Award to record their hours and learning gained through volunteering placements and claim certificates for key milestones.The scheme helps young people demonstrate their achievements when applying for employment, further education or training.Saltire Award certificates were presented to the following volunteers who worked out of Ninewells Hospital:• Charlotte Fletcher, Welcome Guide – 100 hours• Levente Novak, Ward 1 – 25 hours• Amy McDonald, Ward 6 – 25 hours• Zoe Hutcheon, Ward 6 – 25 hours• Matthew Lowdon, Ward 16 – 25 hours• Faye Furtado, Ward 19 – 25 hours• Sohana Saghur, Ward 6 – 10 hours• Sanskriti Jariwala, Ward 6 – 10 hours• Lucy Timney, Ward 18 – 10 hoursAmy McDonald said: “I am proud to receive the award and it is good to know my volunteering is making a difference to the patients.

I am enjoying volunteering and feel it is helping to build my confidence as well as my communication skills.”Levente Novak said: “It means a lot to know that no minute of volunteering goes unnoticed and that the work I do makes a difference to both the people around me in the NHS and to my self-confidence.”Lucy Timney said: “I enjoy volunteering on the ward, in particular meeting and helping the patients, and I look forward to my shift each week.”Voluntary services manager Val Ewan said: “We encourage all our young volunteers to sign up for Saltire Awards.
