Nicky Campbell quits BBC Radio 5 Live’s Breakfast show after 19 years

NICKY Campbell has quit BBC Radio 5 Live's Breakfast show after 19 years. The presenter will stay with the station as part of a new weekday show airing from 9am-11am later in the year.

It will be based on the hour-long Your Call segment of the current Breakfast show. Announcing the shake-up, he said: "Leaving Breakfast is really tough after so many unforgettable programmes with Rachel [Burden, co-host] and the team, but I've been getting up at 4am for 19 years now, so it's time I had a bit more sleep!" The new show really is a passion project, with Nicky adding: "It's why I love 5 Live - hearing from listeners and talking to people about what really does matter to them and their communities.
