Newcastle United became the richest club in the world yesterday with odds slashed on players they could target next summer — with a few Manchester United players' names being thrown around.
The move was made official yesterday when a consortium purchased the club from previous owner Mike Ashley. Ashley has been bought out by a consortium that is made up of PCP Capital Partners, the billionaire Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
PIF is said to have a value of around £320billion, meaning Newcastle are now among the financial elite in terms of the owners of other top clubs.
And now, the odds have been slashed on some of the potential superstars who could sign for the club — with a number of United players on the list.
