The hotel’s location, wedged between Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus, does rather promise action and buzz rather than tranquility.

But Hotel Café Royal has gone to enormous lengths to help guests drift off. Triple-glazed B&B Italia windows silence the outside world, while blackout blinds block any flicker from non-stop neons down below.Something called “Whisper Quiet Sound Proofing” is apparently keeping out the din, and I appreciated it.
