Murdered Fishcross woman (74) named by police as Catherine Pryde

A woman murdered at a property in Fishcross on Mother’s Day has been named as 74-year-old Catherine Pryde.Ms Pryde was found dead at a property in The Engine Green shortly after 7.30am on Sunday, March 19.Following a post mortem, the death was confirmed as murder and the police investigation is ongoing.Police Scotland say they are following a positive line of enquiry and there is not thought to be any wider threat to the public.A police presence has been visible in the street since around 7.35am that day.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Following a post-mortem examination, officers are now treating the death as murder and an investigation is under way.“Members of the local community will notice enhanced police activity in the area as officers conduct enquiries.“Police are following a positive line of inquiry.”Shocked neighbours today paid tribute to the “wonderful woman” who has lived in the area for a number of years.One woman, who asked not to be named, told the Daily Record: “She really was such a lovely lady.

She never passed without giving you a wee wave in the street. I think we’re all still a bit shocked that something like this could happen to her.

We didn’t have any idea what had happened but we’ve got a fairly good idea now.“One of the neighbours is a nurse and we’ve been told that she was the one that found Katie and tried to help her.
