Mum who lost job after cancer diagnosis says £20 Universal Credit is "vital" support

Around half a million people with cancer in the UK have taken a financial hit from the pandemic and 100,000 are struggling to cover food, bills, and rent, figures show.

Charity Macmillan Cancer said it's seen a 41% uplift in patients seeking financial support since last March - up from one in three before the crisis emerged.

It comes as the Chancellor prepares to withdraw the £20 a week Universal Credit uplift introduced as a lifeline for millions of people last April.

Judith Neptial, 49, is currently living with Stage 4 bile duct cancer. The mum-of-one from London was forced to give up her career as a psychotherapist due to her illness.
