A woman who suffered years of sexual abuse, including being raped by two men, has been given another blow in her life - after being diagnosed with cancer.
Sammy Jayne Nye was subject to horrific sexual abuse at the hands of her now deceased step-grandfather, as well as another man, when she was only 15.
Sammy was abused from the age of seven, with her and her mother escaping to a women's refuge four years later. From there, Sammy built her life back up and started a family, but was again subjected to a horrific ordeal.
Sammy was again abused by a man who walked into her home and tried to rape her. As a result, Sammy, now 41, has waived her right to legal anonymity as a victim of sexual abuse and dedicated her life to helping others by setting up her own group, Darwen Community Helpers, where she supports local people who may be suffering with mental health issues, Lancs Live reports.
