Mum of girl with Down's Syndrome furious as Twitter won't remove abusive tweets

A furious mum has hit out at Twitter for not removing vile tweets about people with Down's syndrome. Rachel Mewes, who has a two-year-old with the condition has penned an open letter to the social networking site, accusing it of "condoning hate speech".

Rachel, 38, has now branded Twitter a "melting pot of hatred" towards people with Down's. It came after the disability campaigner claims she has wasted an entire year reporting discriminatory tweets for an hour each day, only to have the social media giant refuse to delete them.

Rachel, who is a full-time carer to daughter Betsy, wrote a letter to Twitter about her concerns last month. She now she's no alternative than to go public and decided to publish her views to urge Twitter to take
