A mum-of-one is unable to have more children after being incorrectly told her smear test was clear. Three years after abnormalities were missed in 2014, Rachel Foley was left needing a hysterectomy after developing cervical cancer.

She has now won undisclosed damages from The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust after the tragic error by Royal Stoke University Hospital, the Stoke Sentinel reports.

The Trust admitted if the results had been picked up on in 2014 on the balance of probabilities 43-year-old Rachel wouldn't have developed cancer or required surgery.
