Mourners pay emotional farewell to former Taj boss Gurdish Singh Uppal in Prestwick

Prestwick this morning in a fitting farewell to former Taj boss Gurdish Singh Uppal.Affectionately known as ‘Diesh,’ the man who established the restaurant with younger brother, Bobby, sadly passed away last week.He was 71.Tributes have been paid from across the Prestwick community and from Diesh’s Taj family, who said he would leave “a deep void impossible to fill”.Crowds paid their respects this morning as Diesh took his final journey past the restaurant which he and Bobby first opened in 1981.His funeral procession paused outside the Taj, allowing for the community to pay their respects with a round of applause.Diesh, who was an active member of Prestwick Rotary Club for more than 15 years, also gave charitably to funding eye clinics in.
