MotoGP bikes in near miss with wallaby at Australian Grand Prix

MotoGP championship is back in Australia after a wait of three years at the popular Phillip Island circuit.Due to the pandemic, the Australian Grand Prix has not been held at the picturesque venue on the Victoria coast near Melbourne since 2019.

And it seems the local wildlife had got used to having the track to themselves following a couple of near misses during Friday’s practice sessions.With machines capable of more than 200mph hurtling around the track, a wallaby was spotted casually hopping across the Tarmac. Thankfully both the wallaby and Espargaro escaped unharmed.But the incident left many fans concerned for both the safety of the riders and the local wildlife, and called for local organisers to act.“This is not a safe situation at all.

Some sort of wildlife barrier is required during race weekends,” tweeted one. Another added: “This track is unsafe. Period.”A third tweeted: “Getting a bit too close for comfort.
