Mortgage advisor warns not to put joke references when sending money to your mates

We all transfer money within our friendship groups to pay back everything from takeaways to holidays. But if you have to go through the pain of parting with your hard earned cash, at least the reference box is there to offer a little bit of light relief in the process.

Many of us have added highly questionable references to payments to give ourselves a laugh, but a mortgage advisor has now warned against it if you're hoping to get on the property ladder anytime soon.

KAG Financial posted a video on TikTok titled: 'How to avoid embarrassment when applying for a mortgage' and it's been viewed nearly half a million times as viewers were sent into a panic about their previous inappropriate references.
