An occasional downside to films premiering at film festivals is hearing early praise, which raises excitement to see them, and then comes a long wait before even any proper release dates are made public.
A personal example is wanting to see Jerrod Carmichael’s “On the Count of Three,” which over a year after its premiere at Sundance 2021 has had complete radio silence in regards to a proper release.
