Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Moffat Mountain Rescue Team gets helping hand from Dumfries Community Champion

Moffat Mountain Rescue Team has been given a helping hand from Dumfries community champion Ewan Fraser.The popular businessman saw his latest fundraising efforts at his Toll Bar shop in New Abbey Road pay off on Thursday when he handed over £500 to the team’s James Coles and Matthew McFadzean.Cash raised from people spending five pence on carrier bags at the store as well as donations, book sales and a tombola have all contributed to the total.Ewan said: “This is the first time we have been able to help the Moffat Mountain Rescue Team who do an amazing job in saving lives and rely on public donations to fund all their equipment, base and vehicles.

Everyone at the Toll Bar is really happy to have been able to give them £500.“The staff have been fantastic in fund-raising and we also generated some of the cash from providing some parking for the Youth Beatz event.“We all wish the MMRT well and hope more people help them with fundraising and donations.”Ewan and his wife, Maureen’s fundraising in recent years has seen a potentially life-saving defibrillator installed outside the shop for public use, a new public noticeboard, cash aid for the Nith Inshore Rescue and other local worthy causes – including Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes.They have also been generous and loyal supporters of the Standard’s Christmas Toy Appeal.
