Liverpool scouted 15 players before making the decision to sign Jurgen Klopp's fourth choice Mohamed Salah in the summer transfer window of 2017.There were a lot of doubts over Salah's signing before he made the £36.9million switch to Anfield from Roma - their club-record transfer signing at the time.

And apparently it was former transfer chief Michael Edwards who played a key role.Edwards, who was Liverpool's sporting director until this summer and was widely credited with building the current side, is reported to have watched him train for Roma during extensive background checks on the winger.
