Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Mohamed Salah was the only Liverpool player to be handed any silverware on Sunday, as Manchester City fought back to lift the Premier League title. The Egyptian was handed both the Premier League golden boot and the playmaker award shortly after Liverpool beat Wolves 3-1 at Anfield, but unfortunately for Jurgen Klopp's side results elsewhere didn't favour them.
Salah followed Harry Kane in scooping up both awards in one season, as the Egyptian finished the league season with a tally of 36 goal contributions across 38 games. But Salah couldn't have looked less impressed about receiving the awards, and the look of devastation from missing out on the title was etched all over his face.
Liverpool had to settle for second place, just one point behind eventual winners City.Salah began the game on the bench as Klopp was utilising rotation ahead of the Champions League final on Saturday, but the Egyptian came on and scored what looked like the all important goal.
But It was already too late when he slotted home, as City miraculously recovered a two goal deficit in the space of eight minutes.Liverpool had to win, and hope that Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa side could take points off City.
