Mike Tyson has revealed the reason he bit off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear during their infamous clash in 1997 – because he "wanted to kill” his opponent.
The two fighters went head-to-head twice during their careers, with both meetings coming back-to-back in the mid-1990s. Holyfield won the first encounter courtesy of an 11th round knockout, only for Iron Mike to trigger a rematch, which took place just over six months later.
The Real Deal won that as well, but in surreal circumstances, after Tyson was disqualified for ripping off a section of Holyfield’s ear – not once, but twice.
