Busy Being Free, has opened up about the breakdown of her marriage to actor Ben Mendelsohn and her journey to finding herself again in her new memoir.An edited extract from the book has recently been published in The Guardian where she told of her experiences with modern dating and her sexual rediscovery with younger men.READ MORE:Sexpert lifts lid on why 'lazy sex' is good – you don't even have to orgasmIn the book the 45-year-old writer, who lived in California for 10 years before moving back to Britain in 2018, revealed that she felt like she had "lost all appeal".She signed up to a dating app a year later, but her friend told her she was on the "wrong dating app" for a woman of her age.Emma went on to sign up to her app and said she matched with a divorced dad in his 50s.She said he was successful, looked nice and had good hair.The night before they met he also told Emma he had read her memoir and told her it had "moved him" in many ways.On paper, the pair seemed to be a good match, and she agreed to meet for a second date.But she said the thought of getting between the sheets with him "made her cry for the entire cab ride home."Emma said she later told her friend that she "didn't want anyone to touch her", but her friend simply told her that maybe she didn't want to have sex with this particular person.Long story short he quickly told her he had found someone else, which saved quite a lot of awkward small talk.Even so, she said she was left "furious" when he cancelled their next date.But to Emma's surprise a much younger 28-year-old man from South London also matched with her and she decided to send him a picture of her cat that she was debating sending to her ex-husband.Emma is open to the fact that she chose to be.
