And after securing a play-off spot with weeks to spare, Van Gerwen’s form was patchy in the run-up to play-off night. But he produced when it mattered most, holding off a brilliant performance from Cullen to take home the £275,000 prize.“This last 18 months has hurt me,” admitted MVG. “I created my own problems a little bit.
And the press of course, I get slaughtered if I don’t do the right thing at the right moment because everyone expects Michael to win, but that’s not how it is.
