Chris Sutton has praised the way Michael Carrick instilled a high-press mentality into Manchester United players during their 2-0 Champions League win over Villarreal on Tuesday evening.
Cristiano Ronaldo ’s opening-goal lob came as a result of the tactic as United qualified for the last 16. The lack of close-quarter press under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had caused avid frustration among United supporters prior to his exit on Sunday.
But Sutton believes that early signs look promising in this regard under Carrick, who was taking charge of his first match as interim manager.
