Chelsea midfield ace Mason Mount admitted he was “gutted” when now West Ham United captain Declan Rice was released from the Blues’ academy.Mount, along with Reece James, is heralded as being one of the biggest successes to emerge from the Blues’ academy since John Terry.
However, as Rice found out the hard way when he was still young, many young Blues’ prospects are released and sent to find new teams.Rice was released from the Blues’ famed academy when he was only 14-years-old and went on to join West Ham, where he has become one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

I just wanted to do it even more for him as well.” Chelsea have been regularly linked with a move for the Hammers’ skipper.However, previous reports indicate an astronomical price tag of around £150m would need to be deposited to the east Londoners if they were to ever part with Rice.
