A married teacher who had a five-month affair with an inmate at the prison where she worked has avoided going to jail herself.
Iryna Durham, 39, was shopped to police by her own husband after he rumbled their secret relationship. She exchanged letters with a lag at HMP Moorland in Doncaster, south Yorkshire, where she taught.
Her husband found out about it and reported her to the authorities last June and they swiftly acted. Sheffield Crown Court heard how they got close in the prison but were never physically intimate.
Durham pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office, Yorkshire Live reports. The teacher was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for a year and she must also complete 10 days of rehabilitation activity
