Marcelo Bielsa became watery-eyed as he said his goodbyes to the Leeds backroom staff following his sacking from the club.The Argentine had developed a massive connection with the city and supporters for his brilliant tenure and so naturally he became overcome with emotions` as he departed the club for the final time.According to The Athletic, the 66-year-old was “visibly tearful” at the training ground, Thorp Arch on Sunday, a place where he “virtually lived in for almost four years.”The publication report, too, that others from the backroom staff also left, such as assistants Pablo Quiroga and Diego Flores and fitness coach Benoit Delaval.The piece continued to say that the now-former Whites boss “is due to hold a last meeting with the club’s players today before preparing for a flight to Argentina, the final leg in one of his biggest adventures.”Bielsa, 66, who was appointed in June 2018, was sacked after a 4-0 home defeat to Spurs, a game that was to become the last straw in a series of massive losses for Leeds, with the club two points above the relegation zone and in free fall.Under Bielsa, Leeds secured promotion back to the Premier League after 16 years away when his side was promoted as champions in July 2020.He led the side to finish ninth last season in their inaugural campaign.But Saturday's 4-0 defeat by Tottenham was the final straw as the club felt time was running out to save the season."This has been the toughest decision I have had to make during my tenure at Leeds United, taking into account all the success Marcelo has had at the club," said Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani."With Marcelo as our head coach, we had three incredible campaigns and the good times returned to Elland Road.
