Arsenal star Marc Overmars has begun talks with Newcastle about becoming their director of football, according to reports. Intermediaries working on behalf of the Toon Army have identified the 48-year-old as the man to lead the club's new era - and the Dutchman is said to be interested in moving to St James' Park.Reports in the Daily Mirror claim Newcastle's new Saudi owners have already made contact with Overmars, who has received assurances that he will be given the resources to realise the club's potential.
A flying winger in his playing days, Overmars has developed a reputation for identifying, recruiting and bringing through world-class talent at Ajax over the last nine years.
