Manny Pacquiao's pre-fight words of support to Conor McGregor backfired after the Irishman was knocked out in the second round of his clash with Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.
McGregor was returning to the cage for the first time in a year and was strongly fancied to overcome his American opponent. But he suffered a brutal KO by Poirier to ensure his comeback would ultimately be an unsuccessful one.
McGregor has recently been in talks with boxing legend Pacquiao over a potential lucrative bout in the ring in the near future.
