Manchester United are set to ditch their black socks in the FA Cup this weekend for an important reason. Ralf Rangnick's Reds host Championship side Middlesbrough on Friday, February 4 in the fourth round of the domestic competition.

For the match United will wear white socks instead of the black ones which they are accustomed to wearing to help potential viewers who are colour blind, The Mail reports.

Chris Wilder's visitors will only have two colours to choose from when they play at Old Trafford - red or green. The paper's sources claim that Manchester United have taken it upon themselves to change the colour of their socks so as to make it easier for fans watching the match.

Both red and green could cause difficulties for onlookers so Rangnick's side made the change to 'help increase the visual contrast'.
