It has become evident throughout the course of the 2021-22 season that despite the lavish spending done by Manchester United in recent years, there are still gaps to fill in the squad.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho arrived in the summer to lift expectations, although manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to find consistency with this group of players.
In defence there are clearly still issues to resolve, while arguably the biggest problem the team has is in central midfield, where they lack a high-class midfield enforcer to balance off the attacking quality further up the field.
