Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked Michael Carrick after it was announced that he would leave Manchester United on Thursday. Carrick was part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's coaching staff and he took caretaker charge of the club following his dismissal last month.
The former midfielder stopped the rot at United and lifted spirits among key personnel. Carrick leaves United after 15 years at the club and he exits with an undefeated record as caretaker boss, having secured points from games against Villarreal, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Ronaldo scored two goals in United's 3-2 win over Arsenal on Thursday night, which was Carrick's last match, and the forward took to social media on Friday to thank his former teammate while he also looked ahead to life
