Manchester United have been dealt a potentially huge blow ahead of Saturday's Manchester derby against Manchester City at Old Trafford, with Frenchman Raphael Varane having been forced off against Atalanta.
With less than 40 minutes on the clock, the summer signing from Real Madrid sunk to the turf and, following a few moments in discussion with the United medical staff, walked straight off the pitch and down the tunnel, being replaced by Mason Greenwood.
It seemed unclear what the issue was with the former Real Madrid man, as he did not appear to walk off in any apparent pain or visual discomfort, but it was enough to force manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into making an earlier than planned alteration.
