Manchester Airport's Terminal Two had to be closed off for several hours tonight after police were called in to assess a 'suspicious package' found by security.
Passengers and staff had to be escorted from the brand new terminal, which opened in July, shortly after 3.20pm this afternoon (19 October).
The terminal was evacuated "as per standard procedure" after the package was identified by security staff. It is understood the evacuation was prompted by a 'trigger' as a passenger went through the security scanners, which in turn picked up a package deemed to be 'suspicious.'
