A man who fell between the gap of a double tram in Manchester city centre has had ‘one leg amputated’ and remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) says the man is ‘expected to pull through’ after the collision at the Metrolink stop at Exchange Square on September 11.

Police had been called to reports of a man being hit by a tram just before 11.30pm, with officers conducting first aid before the man was taken to hospital by ambulance.
