Manchester United returned to winning ways in style on Saturday evening with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Newcastle United.
The result provided three much-needed points for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following early-season defeats to Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.
Of course, those defeats laid bare the need for defensive reinforcements at Old Trafford after a transfer window that strengthened Solskjaer’s attack without adding a centre-back.
United will be expected to dip into the market in January if they fail to find consistency during the first half of the season.
