That honour now belongs to American football franchise Dallas Cowboys, valued at £4.2billion, ahead of baseball’s New York Yankees (£3.8billion).
The rest of the top five is made up of NBA basketball outfits: New York Knicks (£3.5billion), LA Lakers (£4.4billion), then Golden State Warriors (£3.2billion).
