Manchester United are poised to hand Edinson Cavani a new contract at Old Trafford. United bosses want to reward Cavani's recent performances with a 12-month extension to his current deal, that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2021-22 season.Cavani, who will be 34 in February, has been a revelation in recent weeks to help United join the title race and reach the EFL Cup semi finals.The Uruguayan international joined United on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain in October on an initial year long deal.He can speak to rival clubs from the start of next month, but United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to keep him at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.It is understood United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward.
