Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Bruno Fernandes has become the first footballer directly involved in the Super League to break his silence on the controversial breakaway competition.
The Manchester United midfielder shared an Instagram post from compatriot Daniel Podence, in which the Wolves forward appeared to condemn the proposal.
Podence's post reads: "The ball. The song. The dream. The Zidane's volley... Kaka's solo... Liverpool in Athens... Ole in Barcelona...
Cris and Seedorf... There some (sic) things we just can't really pay for." Responding to the post, Fernandes replied: "Enorme (enormous)." The Red Devils star later shared the post to his own Instagram Story, and included the text: "Dreams can't be [bought]," alongside clapping emojis.
