Manchester United have released a statement after Mason Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault causing actual bodily harm.Greenwood, 21, was arrested over an alleged incident in January and has not appeared for United since.
The England forward spent three nights in custody after police swooped on his home at the beginning of the year.It was confirmed on Saturday that Greenwood will appear at Greater Manchester Magistrates' Court this Monday (October 17) to face the charges.
United released a statement on Saturday evening.It read: "Manchester United notes that criminal charges have been brought against Mason Greenwood by the Crown Prosecution Service.
He remains suspended by the club, pending the outcome of the judicial process." Greenwood has not featured for United since January after he was bailed following his initial arrest.
