Manchester United have received a transfer boost after Robert Lewandowski’s agent admitted that Bayern Munich are yet to begin discussions with the striker over a new contract.Lewandowski is under contract with Bayern until June 2023, but his future remains the subject of speculation as the summer transfer window moves closer.

The Polish striker has yet to receive assurances from Bayern, despite scoring 43 goals in just 36 appearances in all competitions for the German club this season. The 33-year-old shows no sign of slowing down, having finished second to Lionel Messi in the running for the 2021 Ballon d’Or.

United are on the lookout for a new striker this summer, with Edinson Cavani leaving when his contract expires and they will be interested to hear about Lewandowski’s situation. "There hasn't been any contact with FC Bayern yet,” his agent Pini Zahavi told Kicker on Tuesday.

Zahavi’s comments followed eye-catching quotes from Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus, who slammed the club hierarchy for their lack of action over Lewandowski. "That would have been unthinkable under Uli Hoeness or Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.“We would certainly have talked to each other!
