Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Manchester United fans rejoiced after Cristiano Ronaldo provided the assist to Bruno Fernandes during Portugal’s World Cup qualifying win against North Macedonia. On 31 minutes, the 37-year-old fed through Fernandes after the pair shared a neat one-two, and the maestro opened the scoring, before getting another in the second half in what was a 2-0 win.
The pair are considered among the best attacking players at United at present but their form has been wavering recently.Ronaldo, up until his hat-trick against Tottenham, endured a goal drought despite being the club's top-scorer this season with 18, while Fernandes has netted nine this campaign compared to last season's tally of 28.
But supporters of the Premier League club were delighted to see them both gel so well for their country. One wrote: “The boys know the assignments.”Another said: “Made in Manchester.”A third wrote: “What else did you expect from the GOAT?”A fourth said: “Ronnie and Bruno looking good in Green & Gold.”Ronaldo claimed before the match that Portugal's World Cup play-off final with North Macedonia was a"matter of life and death".
The former Real Madrid star is the all-time top scorer in men's international football with 115 goals, while he’s netted seven times in the World Cup. Do you think this will be Ronaldo's last World Cup?
