Two lanes of the motorway were closed on the anti-clockwise carriageway between junctions 15 for Kearsley and 16 for the M61 following the crash at around 10.15pm on Thursday night (August 19).
Emergency services rushed to the scene, with police and paramedics sent out following the collision, while firefighters spent 45 minutes in the area making it safe.
