Ukraine after heading there for a family holiday and now he may be drafted into the military. Tim Dmitrenko, 39, was on a skiing holiday with his wife and two children, but was told he could not leave while the country was under martial law after Russian forces invaded Ukraine.
The family touched down in the eastern European country just moments after US President Joe Biden made a speech warning Russia was attempting to "set up a false justification to act against Ukraine".
The young family were still on Ukrainian soil when Russian forces entered the country on February 24.The family has been due to return to their home in Leeds, West Yorkshire, on Monday (February 28).
Tim told Leeds Live: "I woke up at 5am that day. I checked my phone and saw the urgent news saying Putin had invaded. I was shocked.
