15 members of the rescue team worked alongside the North West Ambulance Service to stablise the man. They put him onto an immobilising vacuum mattress and maneuvered him onto a specialist stretcher.
This was then attached to a back-up rope and lowered down to level ground. Once on more stable terrain, further treatment was possible before carrying him on the stretcher and up to the waiting NWAS ambulance so that he could be transported to hospital.
