A woman was hit by a car then stabbed repeatedly in front of a teenage schoolboy, who was also injured, in a suspected road rage attack, police have revealed.
The driver was later found dead in woodland. Police chiefs said the woman, aged in her 40s, suffered stab wounds to her arm in the horror attack.
She was taken to hospital, where police described her injuries as not life-threatening. The boy - who police said was a child of secondary school age - suffered minor injuries.
He was taken to hospital as a precaution and later discharged, police added. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Woodend area of Egremont in Cumbria.
