Hundreds of supporters staged a demonstration outside the Lowry hotel in Salford, where the players were based ahead of the match against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Michael Anthony James Cusker, 28, of Winstanley Road, Manchester has been charged with throwing fireworks in a street, use of threatening behaviour and wilful obstruction of the highway.

He has been bailed ahead of an appearance at Manchester magistrates' court on May 25. The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after a video
