Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte believes his decision to play for the Spanish national team has had a positive impact on his club football.
Laporte played for France at youth level and while he was called up to senior squads, he never represented Les Bleus in a competitive match.
With France manager Didier Deschamps deciding against picking Laporte despite developing into one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, the 27-year-old instead opted to change allegiances and play for Spain when he was granted Spanish citizenship earlier this year.
